Google gets IMAP support!!!!
For those of you who do not know what IMAP is then this next little bit is for you.
IMAP? if you wish to use a mail client on your computer such as thunderbird or outlook or mail (for macs) then you probably are using a POP server. The problem with POP servers are that all the emails are downloaded onto your computer, and whatever changes you make (ie. read / unread emails, moving emails to folders, marking emails etc) are not carried over when you view your mail through gmail’s web interface. with imap the client on your computer simply transfers all that information to you, and updates it.
if you read an email, then it will be marked read on both your desktop client and the web client, so if you’re on the road or at a different computer, you don’t have to go through a million unread emails that you have already read. In addition, if you move emails to a folder or label it is automatically updated in gmail. pretty sweet eh?
thought so.
check out this link, and if you are lost shoot me an email from the contacts link and i’ll help you out.
